We all get bored right? Yes. I know we do at times. But what if you suffer with it OCCASIONALLY?? Yes. I personally have felt that and honestly feel like I live through that right now. I find myself unsure what to do next or what hobbies I should pick up to fill my day with. It's easy to get caught up in the feeling and sleep it off or just scroll endlessly on your phone. While those things might be fine, it's healthy to bring a new atmosphere to yourself. According to the National Institutes of Health, "While boredom is often seen as an unpleasant experience, it can have both negative and positive effects on individuals. On the one hand, boredom can be a source of creativity and innovation in that when bored, brains are more likely to wander and explore new ideas or perspectives." You heard that right! Boredom is also an opportunity to learn about yourself and come up with ideas! I have been on my own journey on what to do to fill my days with. I would even say I'm kinda struggling with that personally so it helps to write this to myself but also reach the people that feel this too. I understand that boredom can often lead to loneliness, emptiness, etc. I have personally felt through that and still do at times. But it's good to acknowledge those feelings and make the best out of them. I find myself making a to do list to fill my days evenly. Such as starting the day with a morning walk, followed up by making a chai at home, doing a Bible study and so forth! It's easy to get wrapped up in our heads and ask ourselves, "what next?". Take that chance to learn more about yourself! Call a friend, start a new book, look up a recipe! Rise above this negative feeling that boredom presents us with and lead yourself with freedom to start something new! Appreciate that window of time to create something you weren't aware of. Avoid the temptation to sleep the whole day, even though you do have nothing to do. Because friend, I get it. I want to go there too and sleep my whole week off just to start a new one. But it's healthy to grow from that and learn who you are and what you're made for. As cheesy as that might sound, it's true. It's an easy time to maybe research what your future should look like too! What college will you study at if thats a possibility, maybe create a new side hustle for yourself. (I'm trying that for myself and it's so hard to find something!! so lmk ideas :))
Something that has helped me fill my days and avoid boredom is to pick up a craft that is time consuming! I used to crochet, knit, and embroider ALL THE TIME. But it has been a bit since I have, so recently I have been getting kits to refresh my mind. It definitely has been time consuming which was the goal!! Also, putting on a show/movie in the background, listening to music or even a podcast episode helps the silence. On another note, I appreciate anyone who reads my blog and takes the time out of their day to do so! It honestly means a lot and helps with my boredom personally so I can write more haha. I hope this blog has helped in some way and has motivated you to find something for yourself! So, if you find yourself in the arms of boredom, try to brainstorm on how to get out and enjoy life your own way!
