the college life
OCTOBER 30, 2023. 10:50 AM
It's been a bit since I have last written something on here. But if I am to catch up with anyone, life has been pretty good so far. Even though I am typing this in October and likely will post this next month, sigh. There have definitely been some ups and downs but overall, I am content with where I am :) Currently, I have been reading A LOT more recently...I promise I will start my podcast about it soon!! Ive been saving money, then buying my next semester worth of classes for the spring which have also caused me to get a lack of sleep lol, I guess I'm too anxious for them. Above all though, I have been more intentional with my friends and taking the chance by meeting others which has been a nice distraction. For this blog, I would like to focus on the "college life" I have lived so far. Being an adult now, everyday is a lesson for me or at least a self reflection you could say. To start, reading has made a huge impact on my mental health and really made me relax in the moment. We all need those moments! Personally, I'd like to have a busier schedule with my classes than just taking a few here and there. But for now, I am trying to make the most of my fall semester.
This fall has been hectic and continues to be! I have met such cool people already that I see on a daily basis, I'm starting a new job by leaving my current one and Im more involved in my church than ever before. It's weird getting used to constant change and seeing others come and go in your life. But that has also taught me to really take everything slow and appreciate what I have so far. You could say thats what this blog post is about. To really take in what life has given me so far and to keep moving forward with the what stays. Overall, I have really enjoyed my own company and learning to be independent. It's nice to figure out who I am and what I would like to do with myself in the years to come. Usually, I would get frustrated by the thought of being alone constantly and not having at least one person to talk to in my day. Luckily, college has given me grace on that topic and slowly shaped me into who I am today and to come. I feel that all people should explore their own company, like taking yourself on a date! Go to the coffee shop right down the street, go on a walk, just be present in the atmosphere! I have learned more about myself than being with others just by how I react to things emotionally or how I handle my days. Im grateful that I can be independent and take care of myself without worrying if I constantly need someone at my side to give me validation and such. That also just reminds me to hang out with the right people so I can have a good influence and influentially give that same energy back!
The thing I appreciate about college is that there is so much freedom. It's a place that makes me feel in control and gives me a healthy pace towards my studies. I do always worry if I am on the right path or not but besides that, I will give the rest to God. College is a strange time for everybody! You change plans constantly and meet people that you may never talk to again or you have just met a good friend you'll keep in your life. The other interesting thing here is that there is a huge variety of ages with people. That for some reason is comforting to know that we are all studying different things and going our own paths but all shared in the same place. Idk! Just something I've noticed compared to how my Highschool years were like. Besides the freedom and such, I have met so many people there already! My goal was to at least meet a couple people I would eventually become friends with and then make plans outside of studying. It's healthy to practice balancing a lifestyle you can stick with for the rest of your life and for me, I am starting that now. I hope that whoever is reading this, and somehow you can relate to the toxic relationship we have with college whether we love it one day and hate it the next, you are not alone! Everyone goes by their own pace and you should give yourself credit for that! We work so hard in this world that we force ourselves to follow a schedule that's too fast and impossible sometimes. Quit that! Know that it is okay to slow down and enjoy life! We all deserve to be happy and fulfill our dreams as we please.
